Open and inclusive debate on the tax policy that a country should have is an important process for designing policies that would fit the needs of its citizens. This was among the messages at the expert panel debate organised by Finance Think, a think tank organisation that has broad experience in addressing the efficiency and impact of policies on quality of life, education and health.
Our Deputy Ambassador Dominic Otway spoke at the opening of the panel discussion and said:
Fiscal certainty is important not just for Macedonia’s citizens, but also for investment. The United Kingdom wants to see greater investment in Macedonia, and the surest route is through accession into the EU and NATO. We hope that all political actors – the government, parliament and civil society will do all they can to give Macedonia the future it deserves. The UK will stand beside Macedonia throughout.
Experts in tax and fiscal policies spoke at the panel debate elaborating the various models of tax policy that Macedonia should follow as well as the legal implications and the economic effects from them. Besides the debate, there was also a launch of the new Civitax coalition of civil society organisations, which will engage on the issue by providing input for the possible solutions that need to be made for the country.
